FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How is Evolution Golf different from other golf lessons?
With other lessons, you are often only receiving some simple tips, based on a very limited view of your golf game (hitting balls on a driving range). In Evolution Golf, you are receiving guidance from a coach over a longer term. Starting with an assessment to screen for physical limitations and injury potentials, you get a more thorough analysis covering all aspects to become a better golfer. When you go to the doctor, you don't expect a solution to your symtoms in a brief checkup. The same mentality must be used to genuinely improve at golf. No one can honestly help you improve after watching you hit balls for a few minutes on the range!
2. I'm a beginner golfer, can you still help me?
Evolution Golf is for everyone. With this program you are getting a long-term coach, and together we will devise a thorough, custom plan for improving your golf game. Start off on the right foot and learn what works to get better at golf!
3. Why are all the sessions done in groups?
Motor learning research shows that people acquire motor skills better while learning in small groups. Whether you are more comfortable being with friends while learning something new, or you are competitive and want to see who can improve the fastest or the most, the small group format has many advantages. The group will keep motivation and accountability high, to help ensure your goal achievement.
4. What is 3D swing analysis?
3D swing analysis is the next generation of technology that the best players and coaches in golf are using to evaluate their performance. 3D motion analysis allows us to measure swing biomechanics, which gives a true anatomical measure of your golf swing. The standard 2D video that is being used is great, and still has some value. However, it is more qualitative in nature and subject to individual preferences and values. 3D is quantitative, and gives a more objective view of your functional performance. It is already being used in other sports, and is perfectly suited to help us truly analyze our golf swings. This software will not only aid the coach in designing drills for improvement, but can also help to point out potential injury.
5. I already work out, how is the Off-Season Conditioning going to help me?
A fit golfer is not necessarily a good golfer! Your most important equipment is your body, and we need to incorporate some specific training methods in order to make you more efficient at moving for golf. The most important step is getting each athlete screened for potential limitations or injuries. This gives the coach a much clearer picture on how you move and what drills and exercises will help to make you more efficient with a golf club. Be wary of "golf specific" workouts you may find elsewhere! By performing a physical screen, I can build a "YOU specific" workout that will help you get results.
6. My time is limited, do I have to take the whole program?
While each individual can take as much or little of the program as they wish, the idea of this coaching concept is to provide long-term guidance in order to guarantee goal attainment. Please be in contact to arrange a complimentary evaluation session and to discuss your needs further.
7. I don't have a group of four people, can I still sign up?
You can sign up as an individual, a pair, group of three or group of four. Ideally each "pod" will consist of four individuals who are near the same skill level and have the same goals and interest in the game. I will do my best to match people, and will not put a group together of mixed ability just to fill out a "pod". The group is one of the key assets in your learning.
8. When does each semester start?
Start dates for the program are flexible, and based on the needs of each person or group. I have included guidelines for when to take each semester, under the Evolution Coaching Program tab.
